Local Government Re-organisation.
On 23 December 2007 the Government announced that local government in Cheshire is to be reorganised. Both the County Council and the 6 District Councils in Cheshire are to be abolished and replaced with two Councils one called Cheshire West & Chester serving the areas currently served by Chester City Council, Ellesmere Port & Neston and Vale Royal.

Not surprisingly the other Council for the east of the county will be called East Cheshire!
As a Conservative party we put in place a fair and professional selection process of selecting our candidates to stand for the new Council. The new Council will have 3 Councillors serving the Weaver ward. These will replace the existing 6 Borough Councillors and 1 County Councillor for the area. So these 3 Councillors will have to take on the work load for the entire Weaver area. The Weaver area covers a wide swathe of northern Cheshire. It extends from Sutton Weaver, to Weaverham to Alvanley.
